Take your napping to the next level by transforming a claw foot tub into a relaxing day lounger, combining two favorites into one: style, and napping.
The classic aesthetic of the claw foot tub shouldn't just be relegated to the bathroom, but celebrated out in the open for all to admire. This real cast iron bathtub was transformed from a stationary soap suds station, into a rolling relaxation retreat, complete with an operable light that looks like a shower head. The entire inside has been carpeted, and there's an electrical outlet in the drain to plug in your electronics, keeping them charged while you rest and recharge. Take the comfort of falling asleep in a tub, but forgo getting wet. Follow along and I'll show you how I took an almost abandoned classic claw foot tub to a unique piece of furniture that everyone is envious of. Ready, steady...Let's make!

Being from the Chesapeake Bay area and a fan of maps, I made a to scale, topographic map of the Chesapeake Bay, and then made it into a coffee table.
With cad software you can scale this down or up to engrave onto almost anything. You could also do another region. Materials used Lumber- I used 2x12 Pine, it would be better to use Oak or Walnut or anything other than Pine. Wood Glue Biscuits Bar Clamps Rhino (or any other drafting software) CNC machine Sand Paper Stain Sealer 1" Black Pipe 1" Pipe Flanges Screws Tempered Glass Read More Toothbrushes are disgusting. According to medicinenet.com, your toothbrush has "100 million bacteria including E. coli and staphylococci (Staph) bacteria". If that doesn't qualify as disgusting and even downright unhealthy, I don't know what does. Thankfully, there are ways to keep your toothbrush clean such as not letting it sit in a bacteria-infested, spit/water mix (see image above). This life hack can also be used to color-code your toothbrush, so that your roommates don't keep on mistaking your toothbrush for their own toothbrush, 'cause that's just nasty.

Read More! This battery powered wireless charging lantern will glow for 1.5 hours on a single charge. It works with a handful of electronic parts and a USB charger.
The USB cable plugs into the base, and the lamp sits on the base and charges through induction, which we'll get into later. The lamp housing, charging base, and lens are all 3D printed on a desktop FDM printer. This project is part of a family of wireless charging products I'm working on. A swamp cooler, bluetooth speaker, and aroma diffuser are all in the works! Read More Inspired by the wearables class from push_reset, I wanted to come up with a simple, engaging project on soft circuitry to hold at UMakers, a makerspace in Claremont, CA. I knew that the project should target any age group, from younger children to full-grown adults, and thought that classic comic book superheroes would do the trick. The project would have to be simple enough for high schoolers to handle, but complex enough that people can actually learn about combining electrical circuits and fabric. Cost shouldn't be prohibitive (so $10 and under range) so that people could make their own in their free time, and the concept should be adaptable for any other designs that the maker wished.

The music bag is called a music bag because it was used to carry sheet music around. I don't know if it is better than other bags for this purpose but nonetheless that's whats is called. It can of course still be used for this purpose but if you are a rebel you can put anything you like in it. The music bag sets itself apart from other bags with is't unusual closure that consist of a bar the interlocks with the handle. Very clever and very easy to open and close. Read More As it turned out this was an easy project, only made somewhat more difficult by the weight of the wood I chose to use, which resulted in a bed weighing about 275lb and which I therefore had to build in such a way that it can be easily disassembled for transportation. Next time I will use Port Orford Cedar throughout which is much lighter and should get the weight down enough to make it practical to build this as a non-breakdownable bed.
Read More This is a tutorial to make a laptop stand that benefits both you and your laptop!
To learn all the details watch the video! If you prefer written instructions then continue to the first step below! . - Some Details and the Benefits of this Stand - PS - You can make this stand for either a 15" or 13" laptop! The first benefit and feature of this specific laptop stand is that it raises your laptop screen up 7", allowing for a more comfortable experience while using your laptop. This will prevent your neck from getting cramps, and just allow for overall a more comfortable view of the screen. The second main feature and benefit is that it has an open middle to allow cooling for your laptop. This is a huge feature as the worst thing you can do to your laptop is restrict it's airflow, which will eventually cause it to overheat and burn up the processor and fans. By having this unique open middle, the laptop can draw air in from both sides of the laptop and the back. Allowing it to cool the laptop much faster and more efficiently. This will also significantly lengthen the overall lifetime of your laptop. This stand is made completely out of cabinet grade plywood but can also be made out of a solid wood. In the DXF file that you can download you will find designs for both 13" and 15" laptops. And, you can make this laptop stand with either a CNC router or a scrollsaw. So let's get started! |
